A voice for the "VOICELESS"
“The love for all living creatures is
the noblest attribute of man”- Charles Darwin
Voiceless are those who cannot express themselves
through words. They have only some actions and eye language to express their
needs and emotions. Animals are such beings on earth.
As an animal lover, my point of view is, Animals
are more than just creatures that roam the earth, they are living beings with
their own unique personalities, behaviors, and emotions. They have the ability
to love, feel joy, and even mourn the loss of those they care about. Yet
despite all of this, they remain voiceless, unable to speak for themselves or
defend themselves against the cruelty and abuse that they so often face.
Animal abuse is a heartbreaking reality that many animals
face every day. From neglect to intentional cruelty, animals are often
subjected to unimaginable suffering at the hands of humans. As a voice for the
voiceless, it is important to shed light on this issue.
A
very common scenario that I observe in my surroundings is abusing stray dogs and
cats. Out of hunger and thirst, they go to people for help. With their
emotional looks and eye language, they can melt the heart of anyone, especially
I get affected by that look a lot. But some people do not get affected by it.
They do not give those voiceless lives food and water instead they throw hot
water on them or beat them brutally until their last breath!! I do not know how
these people can do such heinous activity! Hunger or thirst is not a crime.
Every living thing has the right on food and water given by our creator.
Providing them with food never harms us anyway. Still, some people do such
heinous activities.
Through social media, I have got to know about such incidents which broke my heart. The one which struck me most is the incident about a student of Chittagong University who killed a mother cat very brutally with a knife for giving birth in his dorm room. This picture of this poor mother cat will break every animal lover’s heart.
Killing
these innocent souls never brings any good to us. I really do not get why
people kill these innocent and voiceless souls just because they want food and
shelter. Let alone stray animals, I have seen some news and lost cat or dog
posts in animal-related groups. Later on, their dead bodies are found! People
really steal them and kill them. Most of them are neighbors or people living
near them. They kill them for some silly reasons like their meowing, barking or
they roam around near the people’s houses, which is not even a reason! It’s
their natural habit. These types of incidents with pet animals strike the owner
very much as those pets are part of their emotions. Also, this bond
between animals and owners is one of the purest forms of love that exists. They
offer them companionship, loyalty, and unconditional love, without ever
expecting anything in return. They remind us of the beauty and wonder of the
natural world, and they have the power to inspire us to be better, and more
compassionate.

As
an animal lover, I really do not like the idea “Zoo”. It is a pure torture for
the wild animals . Wild animals are used
to roaming around in the forest looking for food and their needs. But in the
zoo, they are being kept captive as a way of entertainment for people. It might
be entertaining for the people, on the contrary, it is torture for those wild
animals. It badly influences their mental health, which leads to their death
and extinction.
“ Captivity is the greatest of all evils”
-Miguel
De Cervantes
It is up to us as human beings to be the voice for these voiceless
creatures. To advocate for their rights, to protect them from harm, and to
treat them with the respect and compassion that they deserve. Whether it is by
volunteering at a local animal shelter, adopting a pet in need of a loving
home, or simply speaking up when we see an animal in distress, we can all make
a difference in the lives of animals.
There’s
a piece of good news, the number of animal lovers is increasing and many
organizations are built to work for them and their safety. Some organizations in
our country are :
1) Bangladesh Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (BSPCA): http://www.bspca.org.bd/
2) People for
Animal Welfare (PAW): http://www.pawbd.org/.
International
organizations:
1) FOUR PAWS INTERNATIONAL: https://www.four-paws.org/
2) PETA : https://www.peta.org/about-peta/
